ABB ACS580 Variable Frequency Drive
Commission effortless energy efficiency across a broad range of variable speed applications
A new generation, all-compatible, wall-mounted and cabinet-built drive simplifies your processes and motor control with effortless efficiency. Allowing you to control a wide range of applications in different industries, with straightforward setup or commissioning. Most essential features are built-in as standard, simplifying drive selection, and making additional hardware unnecessary. As part of ABB’s all-compatible drives portfolio, the drive is designed to offer not only a technically compatible drive, but also an all-compatible solution for your people, process, business and environmental goals you may have. The ACS580 is plug-in ready to control your pumps, fans, conveyors, mixers and many other variable and constant torque applications.
ACS580-0P Release
The ACS580-0P Packaged Drive is an ACS580 Variable Frequency Drive enclosed with either an input disconnect switch and fast acting fuses (ACS580-0P) or an input circuit breaker (ACS580-0P +F255). The ACS580-0P Packaged Drive provides a door-mounted input disconnect operator (padlockable in the OFF position), electronic motor overload protection, a door mounted control panel with graphical display for local control, provisions for external control connections, and serial communications capability.
The drive package is available in NEMA Type 1/IP21 (standard) and NEMA Type 12/IP55 (+B056) from 1-100 HP (230V), 1-200 HP (480V) and 2-150 HP (575V). It is also available in a NEMA Type 3R (+B058) package from 1-25 HP (230V), 1-60 HP (460V) and 2-30 HP (575V).
Save time and money
Simple to install, commission, use, expand, and even upgrade, when the time comes.
Keep your system running smoothly
Designed for customers who value reliability, high quality and robustness in their applications.
Contain costs
All the essential features, including Safe Torque Off (STO), are integrated into the ACS580, the amount of equipment that needs to be installed, commissioned, and maintained is less.
Achieve success

Switch on simplicity without trading off efficiency
The ACS580 is an all-compatible ABB general purpose drive, with offerings of wall-mounted drives, drive modules, and cabinet-built drives. ACS580 is designed to control a wide range of variable and basic constant torque applications such as pump, fans, compressors, conveyors and mixers in a broad range of industries. The drive has built-in features that simplify ordering and delivery and reduce commissioning costs since everything is provided in a single, compact package.
The drive features a new second generation swinging choke technology which, together with the drive’s design, provides superior mitigation of harmonics in particular at partial load.
Other built-in features include EMC filter, brake chopper up to frame R3, Modbus Fieldbus interface, and safe torque off (STO). The plug-in Fieldbus adapter modules enable connectivity with all major automation systems.
The control panel’s straightforward primary settings menu and embedded assistants reduce the time needed for drive commissioning. The menus are clearly named by function, such as motor, ramp and limit settings. The Drive composer PC tool offers extensive drive monitoring and process tuning capabilities. ACS-AP-W panel with Bluetooth interface allows drive setup and monitoring from the mobile phone.
The drive’s energy optimizer control mode ensures the maximum torque per ampere, reducing energy drawn from the supply. The built-in energy calculators, including used and saved kWh, CO2 reduction and money saved, help the user monitor and fine-tune processes to ensure optimal energy use.
Learn it once, use it everywhere
If an application requires more than a general purpose drive, the common drive’s architecture enables a smooth transition to other all-compatible drives in the ABB portfolio, such as the ACS880 industrial drives. The drives share the same user interfaces and options, enabling users to use the knowledge gained with the ACS580 drives.
