Job Summary:

The Electrical Drafter is responsible for creating and maintaining technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints for electrical systems, including industrial control panels, small part modifications and cables, to support engineering and project teams. This role ensures that all designs adhere to applicable codes and standards, align with project specifications, and are completed within set timelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed electrical drawings, including wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, and cable schedules using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Update and revise existing drawings based on engineering feedback or design changes.
  • Ensure designs meet all relevant local, national, and industry codes (e.g., IEC, NEC and UL 508A) and company standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of evolving drafting techniques and code requirements.
  • Work closely with engineers, sales, and Shop Manager to gather technical specifications and clarify project requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
  • Organize and manage drawing files to ensure proper version control and accessibility.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining standard templates and drawing libraries.
  • Conduct thorough checks on all drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before submission.
Key Deliverables:
  • Accurate and compliant electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Timely updates to designs in response to project or customer needs.
  • Organized drawing files and documentation ready for future reference.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 2+ years of electrical drafting experience of industrial electrical control panels in industries such as manufacturing (machine building, food processing, goods production, etc.).
  • Certificate or associate's degree in electrical drafting, electrical engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools, Fusion preferred
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and UL 508A standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and electrical codes, understanding of machine operation and factory automation.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, organized, energetic, and capable of staying cool under pressure from multiple ongoing projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
  • Strong time-management skills.
