ABB ACS355 Variable Frequency Drives
This article and video will be introducing the
ACS355 variable frequency drive, part of ABB’s machinery drives portfolio.
The ABB ACS355 machinery drives are designed to be the fastest drives to install, set parameters, and commission. They are highly compact and cost effective. Equipped with cutting edge intelligence and safety capability, the drives are designed specifically to meet the production and performance needs of system integrators, original equipment manufacturers and panel builders, as well as the requirements of end users in a broad range of applications.
These drives are designed to meet the requirements of an extensive range of machinery applications. The drives are ideal for lifting, food and beverage, material handling, textile, printing, rubber and plastic, and woodworking applications.
Save time on installation and commissioning
The drive’s compact and uniform dimensions facilitate multiple drive solutions and cabinet installations. Different mounting options enable flexible installation in restricted spaces. With the FlashDrop tool the drive can be pre-configured in seconds without powering the drive. The drive’s application macros and assistants enable fast and easy commissioning.
Reduce costs with cutting-edge intelligence and flexibility
Up to eight pre-set sequences of operations can be created in minutes with the drive’s PC tool to reduce the need for external PLC components. Versatile fieldbus connectivity to most PLCs on the market is also available. Built-in safety features such as safe-torque-off reduce the need for external safety components.
Additional features include Speed Compensated Stop. This makes the drive ideal for material handling applications that require precision stopping that is independent of variations in process speed. For demanding environments high protection class variants are available in IP66/UL Type 4X classes that are NSF certified.
The power and voltage range includes
Single-phase, 200 to 240 V .5 to 3hp. 3-phase 200 to 240v .5 to 15hp, and 3-phase 380 to 480 v .5 to 30hp. These drives support induction motors and permanent magnet motors.
Two user interfaces are available including a basic control panel and assistant control panel. The purpose of the panel cover is to protect the drive’s connection surfaces. The basic control panel features a single line numeric display where the Assistant control panel features a 3 line multilingual alphanumeric display for easy drive programming. The large graphical display and soft keys make it extremely easy to navigate. The control panel has startup assistants and a built-in help function to guide the user.
Through optional modules, the ACS355 supports most major fieldbus options including CANopen, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, Ethernet IP/Modbus-TCP, Modbus-RTU and Profibus DP.
