Euchner RFID Interlock Switches
In this article and video, Dean Anderson introduces us to the Euchner RFID Interlock Switches.
The CES family of products are non-contact, interlock systems for machine safeguarding solutions. These systems use RF technology to provide redundant and dynamic self-checking systems.
Each safety system is comprised of 3 components; the actuator, the read head and the RF evaluation unit. Some versions of this product line incorporate both the read head and the RF evaluation unit into one assembly, which is referred to as the safety switch.
A few of the benefits of the RF sensing technology are:
1. Most CES systems meet the Category 4 safety level rating with only one switch per door thereby reducing mounting and wiring costs.
2. The actuators and read heads can allow up to +/- 15mm misalignment thereby reducing nuisance tripping due to the wear and tear on doors and hinges.
3. Actuators can approach the read head from any direction. They are not limited to specific directions of approach as many magnetically based switches are.
The CES read heads and actuators are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
The CES – AR switches may be series connected up to 20 switches.
When connected to the CES-AR-AES-12 evaluation unit, up to 12 switches can be monitored and provide a discrete monitoring output to indicate which gate is open in a multi-gate system.
The Euchner CES family of products are a great solution for many of your machine safe guarding applications.
