Omron E3NX Fiber Amplifier
In this article and video, we will introduce you to the E3NX Smart Fiber amplifier from Omron Automation.
3 technologies work together to support the high performance of this sensor.
The High efficiency coupling element utilizes GIGA RAY2S technology which gives this sensor Optical coupling efficiency of 40%. The lens and reflector eliminate lost light to emit powerful, uniform emission.
The High Speed, High precision N-Core processor gives you twice the processing speed of the previous model. With a fast 30 microsecond response time, this unit can solve challenging speed-based applications.
The Light reception algorithm ensures smart noise reduction and an improved signal-to-noise ratio. The influences of noise are reduced to achieve stable incident light levels by increasing the number of samples taken. This increases the margin for threshold values to achieve stable detection.
Using the E32-LT11 fiber unit, the E3NX has a max sensing distance of up to 6 meters. The amplifier can sense objects as small as .3 micrometers.
The high contrast white on black display enables clear visibility even from a distance.
Models are available with NPN or PNP outputs and either one or 2 outputs per unit.
You can easily handle a wide range of applications with the press of a single button. Press the S-Tune button once with a workpiece and once without a workpiece, and the sensor will automatically set the light intensity and threshold to optimum values.
The E3NX sensor comes equipped with Auto Power Control. APC comes pre-programmed on the amplifier and is a safety feature that automatically compensates for the LED loosing intensity over time.
Couple that with Dynamic Power Control which automatically compensates for differences in the incident level, and you have a one-two punch that sets this sensor apart from the rest. The display will flash and an alarm will output when the incident level drops due to dirt or vibration. This is a great tool for predictive maintenance and to reduce unplanned downtime.
The units are available with 3 connection types. A pre-wired power and output cable, M8 Connector, or the units can be daisy chained together with master- slave connectors.
The Sensor communications Unit eliminates the need for complex wiring. Simply connect the communication equipped amplifier to the communications unit, daisy chain any subsequent amplifiers, and viola all the information from the sensors is being communicated via EtherCat. You can not only view the output parameters, but also adjust those parameters over the EtherCat network making modification and troubleshooting a breeze.
