Omron E5C Temperature Controller

In this article and video, Lindsey Shepard gives an overview of the E5C Series of Temperature controllers from Omron Automation.

The E5C series will save you time and effort in set-up and operation while enabling faster and more accurate monitoring and control of your process.

The high-contrast, white LCD display contributes to the exceptional clarity and readability of the E5-C series. The large display can be read from greater distances and multiple vantage points.

Coupled with auto tuning algorithms which greatly reduce set-up time, Omron’s CX-Thermo support software was designed specifically for use with this series of temperature controllers. This enables faster parameter set-up, simplified device adjustment and maintenance. The USB Serial conversion cable eliminates the need for a power supply to program the device. The power from the USB port can power up the controller when using the CX Thermo software. With a few clicks of the mouse, you can download your parameter into any omron e5-c series controller.

This series offers a unique performance with a fast 50 milli-second sampling period for fast and precise regulation. Omron’s 2-PID control is a key advantage offered over standard controllers. It uses a powerful algorithm, which has a major impact on the control stability, and the quality of your products.

Various models and sizes are available including the E5CC which has a depth of only 60mm. The E5GC measures only 48 by 24mm and can be group mounted either horizontally or vertically. The E5DC features a 22.5mm width body and DIN-rail mounting capabilities. This is an ideal option for applications where multi-zone control is needed along with communication to a PLC or touchscreen.

The E5DC also has a removable terminal block for easy mounting and replacement. If the controller wears out, all you have to do is remove it from the base and insert the new controller eliminating the need for re-wiring.

With Key features like simplicity in operation, 50 milli-second sampling period, and the ability to handle multi-function input and output types, - combined with Omron’s patented 2-PID control, the e5c series sets a new standard in fast and precise temperature regulation.
