ABB ACS580 I/O Settings
In this article and video, we will walk you the I/O settings on the ACS580 drive.
We have already looked at some of the features of ABB’s all compatible drives family with videos on the ACS880 and ACS380. Today we will be taking a closer look at one of the features on the ACS580-I/O settings. This is yet another way ABB makes it easier to setup your drive.
You may remember this main screen.
Pressing the menu button brings up the main menu. While I can
scroll up to parameters and set everything up like normal, this I/O menu may
also be helpful to you. This menu makes your setup similar to some of the
other guys’ drives. Going into this
menu, it shows me at a glance the functions of each input as well as their
status. As you can see, digital and analog I/O are all monitored showing
their actual value on the left. This can
be helpful during startup and troubleshooting.
The right side shows the function.
This setup is ABB’s standard macro, giving 2
wire control and a separate input for a reverse command. If you would
rather have DI1 be a forward and DI2 be a reverse, it is just as simple as
changing the setting for DI1 from DI1 start/stop to DI1 forward, DI2 reverse.
Going to a 3-wire control is as simple as changing DI1 to DI1P start, DI2
stop. As you can see, this setting for
DI1 also changes the setting for DI2, which can help speed up your
commissioning time.
I hope you have seen that this is yet another way the new line of drives from ABB are truly “all-compatible”.
